Molly Crows - The Movie Starring Mercy Gaiger

Inspired by real events, Molly Crows tells the story of a small town in Middle-England being torn apart, because of a wicked act that took place there centuries ago.

Based on the true story of a 17th Century witch and set in modern times. A seven year old girl avenges a wicked act, and tears a small town apart.

When seven year old Jess and her alcoholic Mother arrive in Haslem, she’s an easy target for the brutal bullying culture. But there’s something different about Jess. She can see and hear things that other people can’t.

When Jess is brutalized in a country lane, the ancient spirits of the area appear, angry and full of vengeance.

The townspeople take the law into their own hands and commit a terrible act upon an innocent, as brutal and unforgivable as the notorious Witch-finders from centuries past.

Molly Crows - The Movie Trailer

Mercy Gaiger Feature
Mercy Gaiger began her acting career at the tender age of 3 when she expressed an interest is modeling for her parents (both of which were photographers). She proved so good at pulling faces and conveying emotion that she soon had a reputation amidst the alternative model/photographer community and the 'Chucky' image went viral.
She began undertaking small supporting roles in short film and adverts for companies such as Marks and Spencer and the BBC as well as music videos before undertaking the role of 'Jess' in Molly Crows - the movie ( a part originally written for a 10-14 year old girl) at the tender age of 7yrs old after her original casting video had the director (Ray Andrew Wilkes/Flashgun films) cast her on the spot and after filming finished the director gave her a glowing reference.
I cast Mercy as the lead actor in my most recent film entitled MOLLY CROWS. I was of course skeptical at first given her age (6) and was advised against this by some of my trusted actors and contemporaries. Accordingly I ran a video audition and was surprised by the results. Still not 100% sure I cast Mercy on a trial basis. From thereon Mercy never ceased to amaze us on set. She remembered all her lines and outperformed most of the adult cast (she usually delivered what we needed in one take). Some people say that this is because she's young and has no sense of fear. But I don't buy that - Mercy has demonstrated a complex understanding of human emotion and how to express them in both her actions and speech Furthermore, she has a sublime look on film and a very expressive face.
I would have no hesitation in casting Mercy again and will be very surprised if she is not. an A-List Actor in the future.
Currently Mercy is working on a short cannibal apocalypse movie with filming beginning in February.

The Nightmare Before Congress

I'm not sure how this happened exactly. I started with a caricature study of Obama with no thought of the direction I would take it and somehow I ended up wit this. That's really how I learn is by letting the image lead me. It's no masterpiece but it was lots of fun. I'm also posting the work in progress which is a screen capture of my Wacom and shows my progress as of yesterday. I often do this on Google+ and call it "Whats on the Wacom". Thanks to Michael Allen AKA Ace for coming up with the title.

tUnE-yArDs - A Caricature Study - The Village Voice

Today I'm posting a caricature study I did of Tune-Yards, a young musician... I guess you could call it music. :) Just not my kind of music I guess. This study was done as part of a cover commission by The Village Voice magazine in NYC. Included is the source image.

Bouguereau - Bean Brother and Sister

Todays post is yet another Mr Bean manipulation in preparation for my Beanathon on Google+ next week. Check me out at +Rodney Pike . I think this is image number 28, so I have only a couple more to finish for the First Annual Beanathon to pay tribute to a brilliant comedian and actor Rowan Atkinson. The source image was another William Bouguereau painting called "Bouguereau Breton Brother and Sister". Time is running out. On to the next one.

Hans Holbein - HolBean The Panty Scandle

This is another addition to my Mr Bean collection which I will be showing in its entirety in the coming days. I have a couple more that are almost finished. I will post these as I work on some pay jobs over the next couple of days here on Google+ and Facebook. This was a portrait of Thomas Howard by Hans Holbean - 1539. In the original painting he was holding two sticks that looked like pool sticks...?? Anyhow the hand position was good enough to insert a scandalous little touch. I'm going to try and have 30 pieces for the upcoming "Beanathon". I hope you enjoy them.

Bouguereau's Eugeneia The Lonely Bride

This is the latest edition to my Mr Bean collection. This time I've chosen a portrait of a young lady by William Bouguereau. I enjoy doing these painting manipulations because it's always challenging matching color and texture. This is where I learn and develop new techniques. I especially enjoy creating new textures. In this manipulation, unlike most of my Bean manipulations, he looks sort of sad so I searched for female names in Greek and found the perfect one. Eugeneia, which in the Greek means "well worn". Who wants a bride with the name well worn, hence "The Lonely Bride". I never know what I'm going to come up with when I start these projects. If you look closely, you'll see that the source image for this piece is the exact same one used in my last piece, just flipped.

Rembrandt's Portrait of a Bean

This is one of several more Mr Bean manipulations I'll be doing in order to have enough material to hold (by request) my First Anual Mr Bean Virtual Gallery Showing. I think I have over 20 now so just a few more will do. I initially started doing Mr bean manipulations for 3 reasons. One, he has such a fun face and expressions that it's always great therapy when times get stressful. Always relaxing.  Second, He is by far the most popular character in my collection so I will continue to give the people what they want. And third, it's just fun. There is actually one more reason and it's a personal one for me. I love the character Mr Bean. Rowan Atkinson did a brilliant job portraying him. There's a limited collection of photos of Mr Bean and there will never be any new ones since Rowan Atkinson retired the character. It's nice to breath a little life back into some of these already iconic images with a little twist. Long live Mr Bean!

Barack Obama Caricature Study

This is a caricature study of Barack Obama. It's been over a year since I've done one so it was due. I did many crazy exaggerations of Obama when I was doing Photoshop contests but back then I was more concerned with the image being as absurd as possible and not so much about likeness and more correct exaggerations. This piece is not meant to be funny. It's simply a portrait study of Obama done for practice. I've been real busy lately with some projects that didn't allow me time to do these kinds of works for practice so I was happy to be back at learning what I love. These projects I've been working on weren't really show pieces either hence the lack of posts lately. I've also been spending a lot of time building my social network. Google+ has been real good to me so I've put a lot of time and effort into increasing my presence there. With 1.2 million followers after a little over a year, it's well worth my time there. If you're not there, come and join me some time at www.google.com/+RodneyPike.

At the request of many of my friends, I will be doing a Beanathon soon as Mr. Bean has been by far my most popular character. I'm going to do a few more pieces so I'll have around 25 manipulations in the collection.

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year 2013! 2012 has been an awesome year for me but I'm looking forward to 2013. I think it's going to be a great year. Thanks to all of you who have supported my blog and my work over the past year. I look forward to interacting with you in the new year, here and at all of my other sites. Please feel free to connect with me at any of my social media or portfolio sites.

What better way to ring in the new year than with Mr. Bean and a little help from a great American Illustrator, J. C. Leyendecker. The source image was a Saturday Evening Post Cover for New Years 1939. Happy New Year everyone!
