Juan De Bean Por Diego Velazquez

This is the latest addition to phase three of my Mr Bean Series. If I counted correctly, this is manipulation number 17 of the collection. I have no idea where it will end or if it will ever end. As long as people keep reacting to him as they have, I will continue use that unforgettable face to terrorize the art community. My apologies to the master Diego Velazquez :)

The Mona Lisa Beanipulated

The Mr Bean Project, phase three moves forward. It was bound to happen... Rowan Atkinson's Mr Bean has assaulted the Mona Lisa herself. Leonardo is turning over in his grave right now. Actually my computer is in the shop for repairs and I'm working from my old PC so I put together a couple of Bean manipulations to post while I'm down and can't use my Cintiq. I hope to be back up this weekend. Wish me luck!

Rembrandt Self Portrait Hijacked by Mr Bean

Mr Bean
It seems that no matter how much work I put into a caricature piece, Mr Bean always gets the most attention, so by popular demand, I continue my Mr Bean Series (Phase 3). This was a self portrait by Rembrandt. A masterpiece literally defaced but for good cause. To breath some life back into these old images of Rowan Atkinson's Mr Bean character. If you like them, there are more on the way, if you don't, sorry...majority rules. :)

Snoop Lion - Ease-Up An Do Ya Ting

Ok, I guess this Snoop Lion thing is going to be official. Snoop Dogg is in the process of remaking himself as Snoop Lion after a stay in Jamaica learning the culture and music. I've had several people ask me if I was going to do a Snoop Lion so here he is. I had plans of posting another Tommy Lee Jones caricature but you gotta give the people what they want. This was fun but was challenging as I had to blend real photographic elements with digital painting. This is actually my first sort of half digital painting project. I actually blew through this yesterday so it's not the most refined painting but it was a sort of silly project and I din't think required any fine painting. I'm just now starting to piddle with it and there will be more in the future, real painting I mean. I'm looking at some teaching DVDs by Serge Birault and of course Jason Seiler's teaching series. But for now, ease-up an do ya ting man!

Tommy Lee Jones - A Caricature Study

This is one of two images I started of Tommy Lee Jones quite a while back and never finished, so I think I'll post this one tonight and use the other in my next post. This was part of an experiment to see if I could take one source image in two completely different directions as far as exaggeration and not lose likeness. This wasn't the best source image but I liked that blank serious stare.

Travis Barker - A Caricature Study

Travis Landon Barker (born November 14, 1975) is an American musician, producer and entrepreneur, most noted as the drummer for the American pop punk band Blink-182. I don't remember who, but at some point, someone asked me if I could do a caricature of Travis Barker. Well, the source image has been on my desktop for 6 months so I figured I better get him done. It wasn't the best source image but that's the way it goes sometimes. The tats added a little to the difficulty factor but it was fun. Below is Travis at work in a song by Blink-182.

Caricature Study of a Cutie Pie

This is a caricature study I did of my daughter from a picture taken back in the 90's. I had done a caricature of one of her brothers and she's been asking me to do one of her. She's a cute kid and not as easy to work with as her then 12 year old awkward brother was. I've always loved this image I took of her climbing a tree and it was pretty clear so I decided to take a shot at it.

Caricaturing women and children can be hard because we never want to offend. My goal in a caricature portrait is to make a fun picture, not make fun of anyone. Now political satire is a whole other ballgame and sometimes we play a little rougher in that game. Anyhow with this one, I made very subtle adjustments and exaggerations working the cute angle more than strictly exaggerating the promenant features. One wrong move or a bit too much and it's ugly. I hope this one isn't considered ugly. I tried my best. I hadn't planned on publishing this but it was such a hit on Google+ and facebook that I just had to. It's not my best work but then again I don't know what my best work is yet because I haven't produced it yet. Lots of fun though and as always a good learning experience.

Ginger - A Female Caricature Study

This is just a fun little caricature study of this image of a redhead I liked. The source image was very poor as you can see below but I thought I would give it a go just for practice. I didn't spend the time I normally do with the details because they just weren't there. It was fun but nothing special. They are always a learning experience. On to the next one!!
