I'm going Mac and not coming back!

My new 27" iMac came in today. The wacom is still on backorder. I have one more delivery tomorrow and I'll assemble everything after that. I hope it all goes smooth. I think I thought of everything... :) I'm sure something will come up that I need. I hope to get it up and running, get all my files transferred, backed up and archived so I can get to work. It's going to be awesome. While I'm waiting to put it together, I'm working on my movie project. This movie has turned into quite a complicated project. It's a morph movie, but I'm trying to get creative with it and morphing not only faces but also crazy stuff happening in the background. It's a mass of dots and triangles right mow. Gets a little frustrating at times but I think the end result is going to be something new and different and hopefully worth all the time. I'm going on 4 months with this thing. Well, just wanted to let everyone know what I'll be doing for the next couple of days. Wish me luck. Goodnight all!

Check out this Cintiq wacom I have on order. It's insane!

This is my version of Apple's iMac that came in today. The only difference in mine is along with the 2TB of storage, I got another 2TB backup drive.

Weekend at Conan O'Brien's

Weekend at Conan's
Tonight I'm posting a full caricatured manipulation. It's been a while since I've done an all out situational manipulation and this is really my thing. I need to take the time to do more of these but it's 2 days work so it's hard to squeeze in at times. I did this one to submit to the online contest for the "COCOMoCO Museum of Conan Art" put on by Conan O'Brien. I assume the winner gets their image on the show like the Stephen Colbert contest a while back. I had a lot of fun with this one. There's a lot of craziness going on. I even made a special Conan O’Brien beer in case there was an issue with showing a brand like Budweiser in the contest. Well, it's getting late. Goodnight folks! Oh, a little eye candy for you guys out there. Conan's in the video too. :)

Jesse Smith of Loose Screw Tattoo

Jesse Smith of Loose Screw Tattoo
Jesse Smith of Loose Screw Tattoo

As I have mentioned in the past, I am a lover of art of all kinds and mediums. Today I'm featuring one of the most creative and diverse artists I know. Jesse Smith of "LOOSE SCREW TATTOO" is a well-known and well-respected artist internationally and especially in the Tattoo community. Jesse is in my opinion the most innovative, original and talented tattoo artists I have ever seen. His work is so different from what we normally think of when we think tattoo. This is true art in every since and this guy is the best. I would be proud to wear one of his creations and am thinking seriously about making it over there to get one.

I have the pleasure of knowing Jesse personally and the honor of calling him my friend. Jesse is a humble man as you can see by his bio. Jesse is a world-renowned artist and is also one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. This seems to be a refreshing trend among the tattoo community. I've never met a nicer bunch of artists and I have had enormous support and acceptance for my own work from this totally open minded, art loving group of people, so I had to include a sampling of the best of the best. Below are some samples of Jesse's work, his bio, his links, which you will definitely want to visit, a short video of Jesse in action as well as directions to his shop. Be sure to click the images to view full; they're incredible. The images are large and very detailed so it make take a bit to load, but it's worth every second.

110 Latest Simple Arabic Mehndi Designs (2018)

Born of fickle nature, Jesse has scoured the corners of the earth in search of something to fill his creative void. From an early age it was rather obvious that he was a little off. A master of many mediums, Jesse was once spotted decorating the wall beside his crib with the contents of his diaper. It was then that his creative adventure would begin.

Jesse has conquered many other mediums, the latest being the tattoo machine. At the age of 21, Jesse stumbled upon a fella’ named Carlos who had just been released from jail. He enjoyed Jesse’s art and soon taught him how to build a ghetto gun. From there Jesse consumed every minute of his life learning as much as he could about the art of tattooing.

While steady crunchin’ along in the tattoo world, Jesse decided to move to Richmond, Virginia to seek a Bachelors Degree in Fine art. In December of 2004 he received his degree and hit the ground running. Since then he has been published in dozens of tattoo magazines and has also won a ton of awards for his brilliant use of color. He still lives in Virginia and tattoos in the back of his own tattoo studio, “Loose Screw Tattoo” located in the heart of Carytown, in Richmond, VA.

Barack Obama Portrait ~ I was nice

I've declared it "be nice to Obama day" today and I have a straightforward manipulated caricature portrait with no satire. This was actually requested by a friend. I'm not sure what I think about it yet. I'm not accustomed to being this nice to Obama. Don't worry; I'm not going soft. I'm taking him down on the next one. :)

Check out this new slide show I found. It's free and olny takes a few minutes to set up. By the way, I have a larger one at the bottom of my blog and I also put one on my facebook fan page.

Featured Artist ~ Serge Marshennikov

Serge Marshennikov was born in 1971 in Ufa (Bashkiria, USSR). His grandfather was the general manager of a horse breeding company, his father, an electrical engineer and his mother was in pre-school education. Freom the earliest of times, Serge was always drawing, painting and sculpting from any material he could land his hands on. His Mother encouraged Serge to study and from early childhood and he had a succession of private teachers and art studies he attended. After receiving a number of awards for his children’s watercolor and pastel paintings, Serge decided to become a professional painter.

In 1995 he finished the Ufa Art College and then continued education at one of the most prestigious art academies in the world, The Repin Academy of Fine Art in St. Petersburg, Russia. As one of the most talented graduates of the academy, Serge was offered to stay for post-graduate studies at the studio of the Academician, Rector of the Academy, Professor Milnikov.

Serge’s first solo exhibition was in the gallery “Sangat” of his native UFA in 1995, the year of his graduation from the college. The show was a success and Serge was invited to exhibit at the Artists’ Union gallery. Since that time Serge has exhibited on a semi-annual basis, showing his works to his collectors and piers in both St Petersburg and Ufa. Serge’s graduation work caught the eye of a Brownwood University faculty member as well as Hardin-Simmons University. Serge, during his post-graduate years, also exhibited in the prestigious art departments of those Universities.

More recently, Serge’s paintings have been sold through important art auctions, including famous Christie’s of London and Bonham's in Knightsbridge. His work is in much demand and his prices are constantly rising. Serge’s paintings are held in the Museum of Modern Art (El Paso), in The Grace Museum (Abilene), and in many important private collections in Russia, England, Denmark, France and Japan.

Serge’s biggest influences are Andrew Wyeth & Lucian Freud. From more contemporary times, he likes works of Jeremy Lipking. Serge is married and has a 7 year old daughter.

My Thom Yorke caricature for sale!
My original Thom Yorke that I actually uploaded to the site tonight

Tonight I'm making a post to expose Paul Howell of New Rochelle, New York for selling artwork he stole from me and others I recognized. They are being sold on FineArtAmerica.com. I first noticed the Thom Yorke image above which is clearly stolen. That's a screen capture of my image as I uploaded it to the site tonight. I decided to go back and have another look and I counted 8 of my manipulated caricatures for sale by the so-called artist, Paul Howell. The links with Paul Howell's name are links to his website.
